Rug Cleaning in Exeter – Beautiful Rugs from Around the Globe
Rug Cleaning Exeter by MASTERCLEAN®
One of the things we enjoy most about professional rug cleaning is the incredible variety of rugs that arrive at our Exeter workshop.
This recent collection included everything from beautiful Swedish wool rugs to traditional patterned rugs and more delicate pieces requiring particularly careful treatment.
Although they may all be called rugs, they certainly cannot all be cleaned in the same way.
Pre-inspection
Before cleaning begins, each rug is individually assessed. Fibre content, construction, dyes and overall condition all help determine the safest and most effective cleaning method.
Several of these rugs were suitable for our traditional water-based cleaning process, allowing accumulated soils and residues to be thoroughly removed before controlled drying in our workshop.
Two required a very different approach and were professionally dry cleaned instead.
One presented a risk of dye migration, where introducing water could cause colours to move into surrounding areas. Another contained silk fibres interwoven with the wool, which could easily have been damaged by an unsuitable wet-cleaning process.
These are exactly the reasons why identifying what you are dealing with before cleaning starts is so important.
The two large Swedish rugs were particularly beautiful examples and responded extremely well to professional cleaning.
Alongside them were rugs of completely different styles, fibres and construction – each receiving the cleaning process appropriate to that individual piece.
And rugs don't necessarily need to look particularly dirty to contain a considerable amount of soil. Some of the photographs from this collection show just how much contamination can be removed during a thorough professional clean.
