Princes Street South, Exeter – Cleaning Beside a Piece of the City’s Horticultural History
Today MASTERCLEAN® is working in Princes Street South, Exeter, just beside Pince’s Gardens, carrying out a combination of professional carpet and upholstery cleaning.
Our work today included carpets through several areas of the home along with a pair of upholstered chairs. As always, the different fibres and fabrics were assessed individually before cleaning, rather than treating everything in exactly the same way.

A Little Exeter History Just Around the Corner
One of the things we enjoy about working throughout Exeter is discovering the history sitting quietly alongside the places we visit every day.
Pince’s Gardens is a particularly interesting example.
The pleasure ground occupies the site of the former Lucombe & Pince nursery, part of Exeter's long horticultural heritage. Exeter City Council records the site as the location of the 18th-century nursery of Pince and Lucombe, while historical accounts record that the gardens were subsequently bought by the council in 1912.
So while today’s visit was about carpets and upholstery rather than horticulture, we were working beside a small piece of Exeter history that stretches back centuries.
Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Across Exeter
Back inside, our attention was firmly on the job at hand.
The carpets received our usual careful preparation and professional cleaning, while the upholstered chairs were cleaned individually using the appropriate hand tool. It is this ability to work across different furnishings within the same home that makes combined carpet and upholstery cleaning particularly convenient for our customers.
