Upholstery Cleaning Ivybridge – A Clean Suite and a 102-Mile Walk!

Today MASTERCLEAN® was in Ivybridge, South Devon, carrying out specialist upholstery cleaning for a lovely couple who found us through an organic Google search earlier this month.
They were looking for an experienced company to professionally clean their three-piece chenille suite and chose MASTERCLEAN® for the job.
Chenille is a distinctive upholstery fabric with a soft, textured appearance. As with any upholstery we clean, the suite was inspected and tested before work began so that the appropriate cleaning process could be selected.
The cushions were removed and the suite carefully cleaned throughout, including the seats, backs, arms and the areas beneath the removable cushions. Our professional upholstery equipment allowed us to work methodically across the fabric while paying particular attention to the chenille's textured surface.
It was also a pleasure spending some time with our customers. Lovely people who over a long period of time had fostered around 30 children — so this was a home that has certainly seen plenty of family life over the years!
But what about that 102-mile walk?
Working in different towns and villages across Devon often gives us an excuse to discover a little more about the places we visit — and Ivybridge has a particularly interesting connection with the Devon landscape.
The town takes its name from the historic bridge across the River Erme, once noted for the ivy growing around it. Ivybridge also developed on the old route between Exeter and Plymouth, long before today's A38 made travelling across South Devon quite so straightforward.
But Ivybridge is also associated with a considerably longer journey.
It marks the southern end of the Two Moors Way, the long-distance walking route running from Ivybridge across Dartmoor and Exmoor to Lynmouth on the North Devon coast — a journey of approximately 102 miles.
Fortunately, MASTERCLEAN® had the van. 😂
With today's chenille suite professionally cleaned and our customers happy with the result, it was time to pack away the equipment and head off from Ivybridge — without walking the remaining 102 miles!
